Chengdu museum of natural history

Hatfield Group is working with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects to create a landmark museum and cultural hub for one of China‘s fastest-growing cities. Hatfield Group developed a bespoke structural system that made the design‘s signature glazed atrium possible. The atrium will greet visitors and showcase some of the most significant artifacts, including its collection of dinosaur fossils. The building takes inspiration from the surrounding mountains and the shifting tectonic plates, referencing geological forms in keeping with the museum’s program.
