Memphis Brooks Museum of Art

Hatfield Group is working with Herzog & de Meuron and archimania to provide structural engineering services for this new cultural destination and anchor of a reanimated Memphis riverfront. The building will a new home for the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, the city’s oldest and largest art museum. It is a keystone of the plan to connect six miles of the riverfront with parks, walking paths, civic, and recreational structures, an initiative developed by the Mayor’s Riverfront Task Force and the Memphis River Parks Partnership. Set in a seismically active zone, the structure will be designed to withstand earthquakes. As part of the project, Hatfield Group is exploring how cross-laminated timber (CLT) could be a structural solution that overcomes seismic challenges.
