STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
Memphis Brooks Museum of Art
Hatfield Group are working with Herzog & de Meuron to provide structural engineering services for this new museum, positioned as an anchor of the newly animated Memphis riverfront.
The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art will be a new cultural destination for a tri-state area that includes Arkansas and Mississippi. The museum is part of a plan to connect six miles of the riverfront with parks, walking paths, civic, and recreational structures, an initiative developed by the Mayor’s Riverfront Task Force and the Memphis River Parks Partnership. The structural system will use mass timber, reducing the embodied carbon impact of the building and lending a sense of warmth to the visitor experience. Set in a seismically active zone, the structure will be designed to withstand earthquakes.
